Project Management Office (health and social services sector): planning, implementation, coordination

The implementation of clinical projects in new governance structures coupled with the ministerial requirements concerning accreditation and risk management as well as computerization needs have generated an array of new projects taking place within each of the health and social services establishments.

Adopting and disseminating best practices in project management, prioritizing, tracking a set of projects and sharing lessons learned at the end of a project are all methods that can contribute to the successful unfolding of a project.

Irrespective of its scale, an efficient project office will promote the introduction of best practices in project management. It can be beneficial to a health and social services organization wishing to coordinate its efforts and standardize its practices in project management, change management or process review.

In accordance with the standards of the Project Management Institute (PMI), CIM has developed a methodology for integrating the strengths of the establishement with the knowledge and expertise of our specialized consultants.

It involves setting up a project office adapted to the specific needs and skills already present within the organization, in order to share project management knowledge and tools, communicate interrelations, monitor the evolution of the project and contribute to its success.

Whether the project is clinical or technological in nature, having a project management office does not require the formal creation of a new organizational structure. In its simplest form, it can involve applying relevant processes and good practices within an existing structure, whether it be for a projet portofolio, clinical programs or IT projects.
