
François Boilard holds a degree in mechanical engineering and a master’s degree in biomedical engineering, and has nearly 30 years of experience in medical technology management within the Quebec healthcare system. Since 1995, he has been a key player in supporting healthcare institutions, notably through the creation of his own consulting firm, Génimed, which has advised numerous organizations on the planning, acquisition, and management of biomedical technologies. His expertise covers the management of complex projects involving several sectors, such as technical services and information technology.
From 1996 to 2003, he held the position of regional biomedical engineer for the Chaudière-Appalaches Regional Biomedical Engineering Service, then from 2003 to 2008, he headed the biomedical engineering department at the CHAU Hôtel-Dieu de Lévis, where he contributed to the creation of a telecommunications department and participated in committees on equipment replacement and risk management. From 2008 to 2012, he led the deployment of the largest telepathology network in North America, combining innovative technology and remote diagnosis, a major achievement in the biomedical field.
Throughout his career, Mr. Boilard has been involved in several projects related to the construction and installation of specialized medical equipment, especially in the areas of radiation oncology, emergency rooms, operating rooms, and hyperbaric medicine. Since 2017, he has worked as a senior biomedical engineer on the new Quebec City Hospital Complex project. As an experienced project manager, he has a thorough understanding of change management, resource mobilization, and coordinating multidisciplinary teams. He ensures that objectives are met within budget and on schedule, making him a key figure in biomedical engineering in Quebec.
